I took off the TrustedInstaller ownership but when I add the ownership to my own account everytime I try to delete it keeps asking me I need permission from my own self to delete it. Which makes no sense at all. The ownership is also set to SYSTEM and user/Pentrazemine not just Pentrazemine/Administrator.

Anyway to fix this? It's asking me for my own permission and I still can't manage to delete it. It's taking alot of space off of my harddrive - very annoying.

bluemoon, that only applies to old Windows Updates, not to the windows.old folder. How did it help you?

I had a problem deleting Windows.old when I upgraded to Win8. It turned out there was a "DRM" file that refused to be deleted buried deep in the folder, probably installed with one of my computer games. I don't recall which one, I'm not at my home desktop, but I was able to delete it after googling a solution.
Also, I've found it more effective to delete the Windows.old file by using the disk cleanup tool rather than just doing a quick-and-dirty delete, but I don't know why that is so.
