I have looked at all the power settings and this laptop keeps going to sleep after 30 minutes. Also, once it's asleep I can't get it out of sleep mode without doing a forced shut down. What am I missing here? This was an upgrade to Win 8 Pro from Win 7 Ultimate, both x64.

That's what happens when your battery dies, you sure that's not what's happening?

    Have an Hp Envy Laptop
Negative. It is not running on the batteries. The battery is in the laptop and charging. I am using the 'High Performance' setting in power management.

did you go in and do a custom and uncheck ,hibernation /sleep, shutting down harddrive, ect ect ,high performance still has sleep set at 30 minues ,unless you customise it .

go to control panel, power option, clcik on create a power plan ,making sure to uncheck sleep :dinesh:

I am going to say this is fixed. I went back in and checked the screensaver one more time and it was set to 1min w/ password required. I had already changed this to 0min once before.
