    Occasional stuttering in Windows 8

Hello eightforums, i havent found any posts about the problem i'm experiencing so that's why i'm writing this post!

I'll start with my system specs:

Motherboard: Gigabyte P67A-D3-B3 (don't really know the rev on this one)
GPU: ATI Radeon 6770 HD 1 GB, original clocking on 850 mhz
Processor: Intel Core i5 2500 3,30 Ghz (No OC on this one)
    RAM: Team Elite 8GB (2x4096MB) CL11 1600 Mhz
HDD: 500 GB Seagate Barracuda 7200 RPM SATA 6Gbit/s

    Now the issue i'm facing.

Sometimes, not very often my windows 8 stutters and making every program that im running on the computer lag, it is 4 significant stutters that's driving me crazy, i just made a complete reformatting and a clean install of the operative system and it still occurs from time to time.
The operative system is "Windows 8 Pro x64" without Media Center

Does anyone have any ideas of what the problem is?

If you're having troubles reading this it's because english is my second language.

What I will do to start:
Check the hashes on your win 8 ? make sure it is authentic
Run sfc scan as well to check if anything is corrupted.
Check your drivers and post what you have for your Intel processor and chips

Hi, I'm having the same issues, running Win8 Pro x64, on i5 2500K + Msi P67 B3, 8 GB RAM. I've updated the display and audio drivers, also downloaded the latest drivers for the MB but I still get the occasional stutter (3-4 seconds, cursor lag, audio/video stutter, 100% CPU usage). I can't find the culprit through the task manager.

Disabling Win Defender doesn't work either.

    Anyone found a solution?

Guys, I think the SFC scan does the trick, it found some corrupt system files on my machine, I'm stutter free for now.

    Here's how I did it:

Bring up the Search apps charm and type in cmd, right click on Comand Prompt and Run as Administrator.Important: You must run Command Prompt as an administrator to use System File Checker.

    1. Once Command Prompt is open, type the following command and then press Enter.

      sfc /scannowNote: There's a space between sfc and /scannow.

Let me know if this worked for you.

I've just started getting this in the past couple of days.

I have run malwarebytes, spybot etc, system is clean.

Initially I thought it was Itunes as listening to music, after the first couple of songs the music starts stuttering.

But I'm watching tv on media centre (Compro S350 sat card) and that's just done the same thing.

Running on custom high performance power settings with everything set to never sleep, max etc with the exception of the monitor that turns off after 15 mins.

I have had the ServiceHost: Local service (7), which hosts COM+ Event System and Diagnostic Service Host among others, utilize nearly 100% of memory (over 2.6 GB exclusively - and I have 1GB allocated to HyperV out of the 4GB installed RAM)

I should have checked what was going on in the event viewer, but some instability must have been going on in the background, and presumably being reported back to Microsoft Windows Error Reporting.

Guys you all need to tell about your system hardware to analyse this problem.

    Here is mine:
ASrock 970 Extreme3 R2.0 (sucks do not buy)
    Phenom X4 3.6ghz (unlocked cores)
    Crusial 1333mhz 4GB
    Radeon HD 7870 GB edition
    Kinston SSD drive 128GB
extra external USB soundcard ESI U46XL

I had no problem with stuttering and suddenly it started. I do not now what is the cause of the problem yet but think it might be de videocard but could just as well be the HD or mainboard (this mainboard causes me headaches from the beginning).

could be software, could be Win8 could be USB or whatever.

I have another system with a Quadcore and a HD6850 with 4GB, running Windows 8 and no stuttering on that one.
