My new laptop is on the way! YaY! So I am preparing myself to install a software package that I know is compatible with Windows 8. It is very large-over 20 gig-and demands a lot of RAM when installing and then 'indexing' itself which can take 8 hours, at least. My question is, given the 'lock' screen I have read about, when the software is downloading for several hours and then indexing, will a lock screen appear after a minute and stop everything. I am not asking about how to disable it but just what it will do when I let the software package run itself as it knows to do. Thanks for your help!

as with all laptops straight out the box, the power settings will be set to dim/turn off display/then shut down/hibernate over the course of 20-30 min.

if it's a long install then obviously plug in power and change the on power settings to never for everything, you can switch it back after.

just like with watching a video clip on the internet it seems to like ignoring the fact you are using it and turn itself off.

I ordered the dvd's necessary to backup Windows 8, the drivers and Cyberlink. Any apps or programs I install locally are already backed up on my external hard drive.
