I've been having this horrible problem lately where my power options aren't working. Its stuck on my first settings. If I change it, it saves and says I changed it, but then it doesn't work. I have been trying to change my power button for awhile now and it just won't change. Its stuck on hibernate even though it says on the menu that I already changed it. I really don't know what to do.

Hello brenniegirl, and welcome to Eight Forums.

Were you wanting to disable hibernate to remove it from the Power menu?

Hibernate - Enable or Disable - Windows 7 Forums

Hope this helps for now, :)
Shawn

No I'm not. I'm trying to have my power button (The one located on my laptop) to shut down my computer when pushed. The power options menu says that it is already set to shut down. But when I push my power button on my laptop, it still hibernates my laptop.

Ok. Double check both options in the tutorial below to make sure they are both set to "Shut down".

Be sure that you set it for both "On battery" and "Plugged in"

I followed the tutorial and still nothing. :( Both on battery and plugged are set to shut down.

EDIT: I've tried using all the other settings for the power button (sleep, do nothing, hibernate) and each have worked when set except for shut down.
