How do I use msconfig in win8 desktop? There isn't a run command line available is there. Where do you search like in win 7 from within the start menu?

well you learn something new everyday that's handy. I've been bringing up the list of all apps and opening the run box from there.

It isn't the same search as in win7. There is no integrated search now - a step backwards - perhaps they will fix it.

Some things do not appear in win8 search at all.

One review asked - "how did that get past testing"?

Many things in win8 require extra movement and clicks for mouse users.

It is much less efficient. There are compromises.

Don't believe everything you see in a commercial.

It is a crippled cut down version of the start menu.

At least MS realised removing the start menu is very bad for usability and included some basic access there.

They removed the start menu so they could keep shoving the start screen at users.

That is because the start screen is the launch pad to buying things from MS.
