Success -- decent cheap Backup that actually works

    Hi there
after a bit of research I found Terabyte's Image for Windows excellent -- you get a 30 day trial too if you just want to test it.

No probs backing up / restoring / "Bare Metal restoring" - and it's licensed for 3 Computers when you buy a license.

As I said in my previous post I'm having too many issues with Acronis to continue to use it any more and I can't get Macrium to work.

I wish I'd seen this product a while ago. Does what it claims to do -- decent set of choices as well and works fine with USB3 drives.

    Cheers

Not quite sure what the question is as the CD / USB recovery tool loads it's OWN OS (Linux, Dos cmd line, WinPE etc --several options here to create recovery disk) and then restores the image using its own drivers.

this question from their forum might answer it for you better -- I don't have experience with Uefi boot bioses at the moment.

Try the latest version from their site -- you get a 30 day trial so if you've got a laptop with uEFI secure boot give it a whirl.

It definitely handles GPT disks fine.

    Hi there

not sure what any of those results mean -- I couldn't say from that list what CD you were trying to Boot and did it work.

Her's an answer I got from their forum

    Here is just one CD.

Windows 8 Repair x64 CD-enabled-NO, will not boot with Secure Boot enabled , Disabled-YES, will boot with Secure Boot disabled (when made on a non-uEFI BIOS & Secure Boot)

This is most likely something that will not boot in UEFI or secure boot.
    But is worth a shot.

In the Windows PE Environment: Image for Windows includes the “PE Builder Plugin Installer.” You can use the plugin with the free Bart PE Builder, which allows you to build a bootable Windows CD or UFD that also contains Image for Windows. VistaPE and TBWinPE (based on the Windows 7 AIK) builds can also be created.

Windows 7 has no support for Secure Boot.

So it will boot in uefi, secure boot off, just like most others?

    Edit:
when made on a non-uEFI BIOS & Secure Boot
    No UEFI.
Back to "legacy mode" in HP then...
