    Graphical boot menu gone

Hi there. I am trying my best to get the graphical boot menu back, the one in blue. All I have is the text version, of black and white. I have followed the tutorial 5245-startup-options. Done it twice, with no success. Settings show all according to the tutorial: default is 'current', identifier is 'current', description is 'windows 8'.
I also did the 'bcdedit /set {current} bootmenupolicy Standard. No success. Got another OS and am dualbooting. Dualbooting works. I have Easybcd 2.2 installed and followed their instructions to write the MBR. Others have done the same and posted the results: blue bootmenu with the 2 or even 3 options. Why is my bootmenu not blue? What else can I do? Thanks.

    Hello Gallicbear,

Do you have Windows 8 set as the default OS to run at startup?

Startup Options - Choose a Default OS to Run at Startup in Windows 8

In addition, double check through the items in the blue Note box at the top of the tutorial below to see if anything may apply as well.

Startup Options - Enable or Disable in Windows 8

    Hope this helps,

After you have made the dual boot with EasyECD, If you would like to use the Windows 8 Boot Loader, do a
    Refresh Windows 8
After doing a refresh, you will be using the Windows 8 Boot Loader.

    Refresh will also delete EasyBCD.

    That's a bit drastic. Theog.

@gallic, open an elevated command and type bcdedit /enum all.

Post the output in a text file.

    Thank you all for responding.
Refresh seems drastic to me. Would restore do it, so I don't lose that many programs?
Guess I'll live with the black screen in that case. Thought there was a simple cure.

Here is the output of bcdedit:

If you really want to boot half way into win8 and then out again - by all all means use the kindergarten boot menu.

Probably a good idea to set win8 as default.
