Solved Backup with File History

I'm using File History to backup my files onto a USB external HDD and is working fine for my requirements.

I have one query though; C:/Users/xxxx has a hidden Application Data file containing Outlook etc. files.

I have checked the file history backup and even though I have ticked show hidden files, the hidden AppData file is not showing.

Would appreciate some advice and if nothing else how to do a dummy reinstall to see if those files are actually there.

Start with Step 5.
On Step 7 use 'Restore to'.

Thanks for your response and yes I should have done some more searching!
Unfortunately the hidden files did not restore
I include two screen shots, the 1st being the backup USB HDD showing C:Users etc. but not showing the hidden AppData files (per my first post)

Did you try to create a new library?

I wouldn't trust my important files to this method, do you also make image backups?

Macruim Reflect is a good free backup image program.

If you have a Seagate/Samsung or Western Digital/Hitachi hard drive you can get a free version of Acronis, a very good image backup program, usually not free. You must have the hard drive in your system for these to work.

All these problems started when I upgraded to Windows 8 and attempted to use my usual Norton Ghost Program. It failed miserably and with no answers from Norton I was forced to look for an alternative.

Quote "I wouldn't trust my important files to this method" I can see your point, apart from the above, there are also errors showing up in the logs which are a bit scary.

I ran Acronis and was surprised at the simplicity and speed of the program and the back-up results are accessible and readable which is what I like.
