    Hello Edgu,

Does your PC use or have integrated graphics?

If yes, then the missing RAM is most likely set in your BIOS to be allocated for use by the integrated graphics instead.

    Hope this helps for now,
    Shawn

Yes my laptop has integrated graphics, but when I had windows 7 all 4gb rams were usable (3.85gb actually). So is there anything I can do?

Since it wasn't that way in Windows 7, then how much is allocated towards your integrated graphics should be the same in Windows 8 as well unless changed by you.

Your Task Manager shows that 1.6 GB of your 4 GB is hardware reserved. Minus whatever (ex: 1GB) is for integrated graphics, the rest is just assigned and managed by Windows 8. This would be about right.

As Brink pointed out, the 1.6 GB reserved for hardware would give 4 GB if added to your 2.4 GB.
