How can I back up windows file extension associations ?

It seems to me that windows 8 is fragile as to file extensions and changing default programs. Therefore, I want to save all file associations in the registry and be able to undo any mistakes I could make. Any ideas?

    Hello ecevit,

No need to worry about it if you like. You could use the tutorial below to restore the default associations for any default file extension at anytime you like. If the file extension is not listed yet, then you could just post in the tutorial for it, and I'll get it added.

Default File Associations - Restore in Windows 8

    Hope this helps,

I use Default Programs Editor to edit file associations.
It also has a 'Create backup or restore' feature which is perfect for when you're experimenting with file types :)
