Windows 8 compatible defrag software for mechanical hdds?

    Me, too! Back in the "old days" defragging was the "fix" for everything performance-related on a PC and I believe it was overrated. I use the built-in software and I get good results. Defragging an old 5400rpm drive isn't going to speed anything up...

    Diskeeper seems to be the best for the moment. The built in defrag also is good enough.

    MyDefrag v4.3.1


    Been using My Defrag for ages, and it seems to work fine, thus far, with Windows 8 Pro.

    Quite zippy IMO too :)

    tbh i've not defragged a hdd in the last 6 years, are we even suppose to do that these days?

    but ye i guess if you feel the need to...just don't do it on an ssd

    I tried and trialed several softwares and now my opions.
    Winners : smart defrag 2.7 for free software and perfect disk 12.5 for paid software.

Any idea which work? I know perfectdisk does not work in windows 8.1 Not sure if the default Windows 8.1 disk defrag is as good as third party.
