Can you help please. I have the same problem, but cannot locate the updated driver on the VIA Technologies website. Do you have its version number, or something to ensure I download the correct one. The best I can find is 15th Nov 2011 version and that does not work.
    Many thanks

Hi David, Try this link VIA Drivers Download - VIA Technologies, Inc.
The driver you need is v1.7.0.0 dated 17 Aug 2012. I've not had any problems since installing this, hope it works for you too.

    Hi Dave,
Thank you - so far so good - but I will know better tomorrow when I start again after the computers are turned off for the night.

    Thanks again

Again very many thanks - everything worked fine this morning - both hardwired computers connected when turned on with no interference from me - as it should be and great. Thanks very much

    Hi all,
I have a similar problem, in that the Network Adapter will also not initialise at boot. The only thing that helps is either to remove the driver in Device Manager and have Windows reinstall, or to unplug the ethernet cable from the router and re-plug.

Specifically: I have upgraded an elderly Dell Win XP desktop to Win 8. That worked just fine. I connect with a FritzBox WLAN 3270 which worked extremely well previously.

Annoyingly, the failure to initialise the network adapter does not happen at every boot - about half the time, it works just fine.

Also, when it does fail, it only fails with respect to my PC. A wirelessly connected Win7 laptop can connect and work through the same router without problem.

I checked for firmware updates for the FritzBox. I also downloaded the Network Adapter Driver for Windows 8 from Intel's site (v17.3) as suggested above (# 1).

There's no error message. Device Manager reports the drive to work ok.

Any help would be much appreciated.
