Hey,
I installed Windows 8 about 3 weeks ago and everything was working until 2 days ago and the computer stopped connecting to the network. It is hard wired in via Ethernet port. I then tried going into the network connections to resolve the problem but there was no Ethernet icon so I tried refreshing and I get an error message saying:

The Network Connections Folder was unable to retrieve the list of Network adapters on your machine. Please make sure that the Network Connections service is enabled and running.

I then saw that action center had an important message saying I should turn windows firewall on. So I launch action center and try and turn on the network firewall then i get another error message saying action center can't turn on windows firewall. Under that there is an option to turn on windows firewall manually. So windows firewall opens and it says the firewall is not using the recommended settings but nothing in the window works none of the buttons or options work.

Ok so looking into networks services have found the service "nsi" has been stopped and will not start giving an error, "Error 126: The specified module could not be found.

Have you tried hitting the "Restore Defaults" button at Windows firewall?

You might try running the sfc/scannow command to see if any system files are missing or corrupted.
