It comes up in device manager as a usb 2.0 WLAN with drivers not installed but when I try and manually install them I just get The hash for the file is not present in the specified catalog file error

Hey Casquillacciott,

which driver did you use? i find i'm having problems getting my adapter to work with windows 8 as well. i've tried running both driver installation programs under compatibility and it's still failing.

Thanks in advance,

Jason.

all good tried another driver and it worked!

Reporting that a different driver worked but without posting a link to that driver makes this thread rather useless.

The people asking questions here plus many others can benefit from that information. :geek:

I found a way to get the driver working. It will not work through the regular install. I managed to get this working by going to Device Manager in Control Panel. The wireless adapter will be in the "Other devices" group, so expand that group and you will notice an yellow exclamation mark next to it. On my machine, the device did not have a proper name, I can't remember what it was though. Anyway, to update the driver, right click and select "Update Driver Software...". Next select Browse my computer for driver software, and locate the drivers. They should be under the Driver Files folder and use the Windows 7 ones.

There were 2 drivers available for my TL-821N V3 adapter and I found out that one of the drivers didn't work. Tried the other one and it worked!

Good luck!

I've tried to install win7 to my driver but then 'windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it. The hash for the file is not present in the specified catalogue file. The file is probably corrupt or has been tampered with' any ideas on how I could fix this ?

Really?
It all worked with some other driver. .. and then?
It's a forum, what's the point of saying it worked and not sharing that information?
Really? Seriously...? :sarc:
