Im using Windows 8 Consumer Preview and Im having a little (well big) problem. The apps (Metro) have internet and work perfectly. When I go to desktop, nothing on the desktop can access Internet. For example, IE 10 Metro works fine, IE 10 Desktop version doesn't have internet. NOTHING on desktop has internet. and as you know, Metro IE has problems on some websites with flash so I cant go on many websites.... HELP!!

Yeah, hi! Could you add system specs to your profile, please?
Also, how are you booting W8? From a DVD? USB?

Usually just resetting winsock will fix this problem. At an elevated command prompt use the following commands one at a time, hit enter after each one.

netsh winsock reset catalog (reset winsock entries)

netsh int ip reset reset.log hit (reset TCP/IP stack)

Chev, GOD BLESS YOU! IT WORKED!

Yes, apparently winsock gets hosed sometimes and the typical symptoms are that you appear to be online but the browser won't go anywhere.

I had you reset the TCP/IP stack as well just in case that was it. :)
