I clicked on 'Forget' a wifi connection by mistake on my laptop so now every time I turn the laptop on, I have to type in the password to connect to wifi.

Can this be undone so that it connects automatically like it used to?

Thanks

When connecting to the wireless network like in Option One, do you have a "Connect automatically" box to check?

You might see if forgetting the network again, and then connecting to the next again to start over may help.

It's not showing up as a network to forget.

I don't know the correct terminology so bear with me:
I have split my router connections into 2.4 and 5GHz
As my laptop only connects to the 2.4 connection, what if I changed the name of the 2.4 slightly.
Should that do the trick and create a new connection which will need me to put the router password in and then I will be able to check 'connect automatically'?

You would want to have different SSID names for the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands to be able to connect to each separately.

If they both have the same name, then that would most like be the cause of your issue.

I already have different names for 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz.
I was thinking that if I changed the name for 2.4 GHz I would have to input my password and should be able to check 'Connect automatically' and everything should be back to normal?

I'll give it a go, but later in the week.
I've been online nearly all day today!

I changed the 2.4GHz SSID very slightly, restarted the laptop, made sure 'automatically connect' was checked and connected.
I restarted the laptop after a few minutes hoping it would automatically connect this time, but it didn't.
Any idea what I can do now? Can I delete all network profiles and start from scratch?

Here's something that you can try:

  1. Forget the wireless network.
  2. Restart the computer.
  3. Connect to the wireless network making sure "automatically connect" is checked.

If it still will not connect WiFi automatically, then see if this below may help:

  1. Open the wireless adapter's properties in Device Manager.

    use-network-adapter-properties-windows-10.png

  2. Click on the "Power Management" tab in it's properties page.

    wireless-network-power-management.png

  3. Uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power", and click on OK.
  4. Forget the wireless network.
  5. Restart the computer.
  6. Connect to the wireless network making sure "automatically connect" is checked.

I tried installing driver 19.70.0 but I get an error [80000000]: Older version needs to be uninstalled before new version can be installed.
I uninstalled the old version but the same error occurs.
Is it the correct driver I've tried to install? I installeded the 64bit version, I guess this is correct as I have Windows 8.1 64bit?
