Network Issue

I seem to have an issue with my laptop. I recently uninstalled a program called wireshark and commview. Both seem to have uninstalled properly. Now, when my laptop is not connected to the internet(wired or wireless), the internet icon would have a yellow exclamation point icon, with a wired connection symbol on the lower right corner. I'm not sure why that appears there when I'm offline and not connected. This happens each time I reboot my laptop, or disconnect from a wifi access point. Anyone has any idea how I can fix this? I really would like to see my internet icon with the signal bars back to normal instead of constantly seeing the wired connection with yellow exclamation point icon.
