can't connect to internet

I have not used this tablet since October. Everything worked fine as of then. After charging the dead battery,, I have been unable to establish an internet connection. The wifi icon on the task bar indicates that there is an internet connection. All other computers on the network have no problems. Here is what I have tried prior to posting this thread:

• ran full Malwarebytes scan -- no problems found
• uninstalled wifi adapter via device manager and reboot -- no change
• disconnect from router and reconnect -- no change
• ping 127.0.0.1 -- successful
• ping www.google.com -- unsuccessful

What do you suggest? Thanks for your replies.
