How To Stop Windws frm Reinstalling Stock Wireless Driver?

Running Windows 8 on an HP Pavillion with an Intel Core i7-4700MQ CPU @ 2.40 GHz. 64 bit operating system. (Hope all this info is relevant!)

Trying to uninstall my wireless driver so I can take a break from the internet, or at least use it in a more structured/boundaried way while I tackle some projects this year (i.e. can still use an ethernet cable for example if I want to connect).

So saved my wireless driver information and attempted to uninstall/delete my Intel(R) Centrino(R) Wireless N-2230 which initially worked - the wireless network symbol disappeared and was not available, and when I attempted to troubleshoot to make sure it worked, Windows could only suggest that I connect to an ethernet cable. Huzzah!

However, a couple of hours passed and it seems Windows 8 has reinstalled the driver and wireless networks appeared available for connection. What can I do to delete the driver until I choose to reinstall it when I like?

Thanks in advance for all the help!!! I really, really appreciate it!

Wireless? Then I have to assume that you're using a Laptop of some sort....Eh?

I've not seen a laptop yet, and I have 9 of them, where you cannot disable the WiFi adapter. Somewhere on the laptop, or in Windows, you can just shut off the WiFi. Have you looked?

On some laptops, it's a switch on the edge of the laptop, someplace, and on others it's a keyboard Key-Combination. But it's always do'able by some method....and that does NOT include uninstalling the Wifi adapter..... because, as soon as you reboot the computer, Windows will just re-install the adapter.

I like to make a desktop shortcut to my WiFi connection, and then from there I can either enable or Disable the WiFi, with a few mouse clicks.
    Nothing could be simpler.

    Good Luck!

TechnoMage - I just wish I had the option for a more robust solution. I am sadly pretty easily distracted, and find myself very easily just flipping the wifi back on instead of getting done what I need to get done. I'd like to put myself in a position where I can use my computer but I don't have the temptation to turn on my internet hanging over me - at least to have to put up with the difficulty of connecting with an ethernet cable when I want to connect. I'm gonna keep trying, but thanks for the help and the insight, homeslice! It's much appreciated!!!!

Maybe it's too personal, but I'm going to ask anyway..... "What on earth are you doing, that you would have your WiFi OFF, but with an overpowering temptation to turn it back on".
( There is Nothing I do on my PC, even Maintenance, that requires me to turn Off my WiFi.)

Forgive me, but it sounds like you need to leave your PC alone and get your temptations under control. Eh?

Or just turn OFF your router, and that will kill the WiFi connection.

All the things, Technomage. All the things.

And I've turned off my router before... BEFORE I TURNED IT BACK ON AND GOT SUCKED IN AGAIN!!!!

I think plan at present is to have a friend change my wifi password so that I can only connect by ethernet cable which is only available to me at certain times. It's an impulse control problem, for sure man, but I'm gonna surmount it.
