Is there a good way to see which channel I should set my Router on for Wifi?

I noticed my max speed has been 1.7mb/sec.. but lately It's only been 1.2-1.4mb/s and I think it's the interference of the TV and etc..

is there a way to determine the best channel?

thanks.

I use channels 1 & 5 for my Wireless-N network, since I have less congestion i my area on those two channels.

Your speeds are not bad. May just be channel congestion from signal overlap. Some Plasma tv's and yes Microwave ovens have been known to kill the 2.4 ghz band.

Control Panel > Network and Sharing Centre > Troubleshoot Problems > Network Adapter > Advanced > Untick Apply Repairs automatically > Next > Select WiFi > Next > View details > Detection details expand, and in there is a list of Wireless Access points found, channels and signal strengths.

From that you can select a more appropriate channel, by going to the setup pages of you Wireless Access Point

If you have a Microwave Oven affecting your WiFi it is in dire need of a service, because it is leaking.

Helmut, nothing in my house needs repaired. It has been a long known fact that Microwaves affect the 2.4 Ghz band.

There is nothing that "Leaks" from anything that emits RFI/EMI. We are surrounded all day long by radio waves on this planet.

Helmut the OP issue has nothing to do with what you posted. They have stated above your post, what may be causing their issue.
