Wireless adapters keep turning off randomly

I noticed my internet dying randomly while watching youtube or playing a game and saw that my USB wireless adapter had stopped working. It still recognized the adapter itself by having zero bars, but didn't show either of my networks or any of my neighbors' networks as available. I tried switching to a different adapter, and even a different network, but it persisted, dying once every couple minutes. I can get it to work again for a while by taking it out and in or resetting it by the network troubleshooter, but it always goes out again in a few minutes.
I scanned with Defender already, and it didn't pick up anything. I also held it against my hand to see if it was too warm, but it seemed fine. It looks structurally fine, and nothing rattles when I shake it.

try it in a different computer.. try a different $10 wifi usb from amazon.. or move your computer or things that are around it that may interfere with signal strength? just throwing out simple easy / cheap possibilities first...
