Hi,

I have 2 usb wifi adapters in my laptop..

the first internal one is connected to my regular wifi internet..

I want to use the 2nd USB adapter as a Ad-hoc network to play games or transfer files between two Local computers..

Can this be done in windows 8.1 64x.. I don't see the "create adhoc" in new connection..

thanks

Yes, you can.

They must have different IP-addresses, though.
Your 'normal' Wi-Fi adpter may have DHCP enabled, and will typically get an IP-address like 192.168.1.100.
the second adapter should have a static IP-address in another range, ie. 192.168.2.1.
Obviously all the other equipment that you want this adapter to connect to, like an X-Box, etc, must also have an address in this range, ie 192.168.2.5.

You can adjust the addresses in ControlPanel-NetworkConnections.
RightClick your chosen adapter, choose 'Properties' and set the TCP/IPv4 properties.
