Ethernet gaming (crossover cable) with wifi internet.

I have recently set up two Pc's down stairs next to each other. The plan was to use them for gaming but for the life of me i cannot get Ethernet & wifi to work at the same time.

Each Pc has its own wifi but gaming over wifi is slow and file transfers are painful. I can get it working but after around 5 min it will start defaulting all of traffic to the wifi.

I have tried over the last week everything I could find online. Renewing, flushing, sharing internet through one etc.

I have done an ipconfig /all on both machines whilst it was working then after it stops done at again but when I compared the results I cannot see any difference. :/

Any help would be awesome at this stage.

Ovbious question perhaps but why not just use Ethernet for the one being used for gaming?
Plug in Ethernet, turn off WiFi.

Tried that one. But even with one or both wifi cards disabled the Ethernet con cation will drop out with in 5 days to 20 min. I also have tried static Ip, auto config & using a router.

I have just tonight noticed that in "Device manager" under hidden devices i keep getting new Virtual adapters appearing.

How are you getting the network connection to downstairs? Is that where your ISP modem is? Do you have a router there as well?

Ok. So I have two "Netgear CG3000" routers. One is plugged into the cable internet upstairs providing wireless the other one is doing nothing atm as I tried using it to link the two down stairs via Ethernet PCs but it did not make anything eaiser. I have not solved my problem. And have to manually disable wifi adapters in device manger to game and share files over Ethernet.

Sorry but I just don't understand.

You say you have one active Netgear CG3000 router upstairs that provides wireless for the house. How then are you using Ethernet downstairs?

Also, why do you want to use wireless if you have Ethernet for the two downstairs computers?

You might want to look into getting a pair of Powerline Adapters that uses your house wiring to transmit Ethernet to any point in the house.
You connect a Ethernet cable to the adapter upstairs that is plugged into a power receptacle then connect a Ethernet cable from the downstairs adapter to a computer or to the 2nd Netgear CG3000 router which can then feed Ethernet to both of the downstairs computers.
