How To Broadcast External Static IPs With Asus RT-AC68U Ro

    Hello friends,

Okay, so I got my 13 static IPs from Comcast. The sales rep said they offered modems so, I got the impression I'd get a modem with 13 Ethernet ports to carry the IPs but, the installer said they don't carry anything with 13 Ethernet ports and that they only carried gateways with 4 Ethernet ports and that I can get my own switch if desired. That's not a huge issue; it may just be a simple miscommunication that I have my own share of responsibility for but, I'm currently waiting for a reply e-mail from the sales rep... I now need to know how to/if I can setup my RT-AC68U | Networking | ASUS USA to broadcast the IPs. Any ideas?

Sorry for posting on the multiple sites but, my hope is more people will get to see it..

You have to use a switch or a router/gateway that allows for distributing that many static IP's to different Access Points.

Really all you need is a Smart Switch, to route which Static IP goes to what device.

For a home it is overkill. For an office you are talking a lot of money tied up in infrastructure to use those IP's for different servers and networks.

Yeah, I've decided to go with the Ubiquiti Edge Router. It's not overkill for what I need it for. Also, the business class internet is superior to the residential class internet so, it's the better product

That is not over kill at all. Use the other one as an Access point. I went with the Wired Cisco, so that if I wanted to upgrade Wireless later on. All that I am swappois the A/P.

The plus about Business, is that they do not mess around with you on the phone or push you back two weeks.

Now you can do a little playing around with a test lab also.

My wife thought that I am crazy, if you look at my system hardware for the network m. The picture of the setup in my basement is posted over at eightforums.

I can get at least two hours out of the main UPS, and four out of the one for my U-Verse Gateway.

The two little white boxes are the POE injector for my Engenius ECB350 A/P. The other is a Lantronix home AirPrint server. The black router on top of the NAS, is my Sam's Knows box. APC UPS below the shelf. Small UPS is for the U-Verse Gateway.

Cisco RV320 with the Netgear GS108 sitting on top of it.

I had to place the Cisco on a couple of quarter round pieces, because the heat would cause condensation on the shelf, which cause me to lose one POE.

Out of the 6 Ethernet jacks, one is not in use at this time. It is used for my son's Apple Tv when he is home on Summer Break. All network info is in my System Spec's.

I actually used a Smart Box for the Ethernet Patch box. It was deep enough and also easy to drill holes to secure.

The only two active Access Points I have in my house, is the Engenius and a Trendnet that handles b/g wireless for our Thermostat and two IP cameras.

IPv4 broadcast problem in Network & Sharing
On Windows before 8 I can receive messages addressed to 255.255.255.255 and to addresses like 192.168.100.255. On Windows 8 the specific types of broadcast are received, but the limited broadcast address of 255.255.255.255 doesn't arrive. Is this a "feature" of Windows 8? Or perhaps something...
