Win8.1 all up to date and a new router.
I decided to change the Gateway with the new router so used 192.168.97.12 as the base address for the router which would be become the Gateway for all other PCs here. That all worked OK and I have Internet access on the other PCs by changing their Static IPs.
The only thing not working is the Network. None of the other PCs can see eac h other. With the old router and the base IP of 192.168.1.1 as the Gateway all was fine.
I am now wondering if windows doesn't like the Gateway being ".97.12" instead of the conventional ".1.1"
Before changing all the PCs again, I thought I would ask here t save some work. Since all PCs can access the Internet it is not a big problem right now, but I would like to be able to transfer files between PCs.
So, do I have to have the Gateway router set to .1 or should .12 work?
What do I need to make this work with the new Gateway setting?
