A couple of days ago my computer was running very slowly after turning it on and it seemed like it took forever for it to get the password screen. Sometimes I turned it off and back on because it took so long. I was finally able to get to the password screen , but nothing happened when I tried to enter my password. I could move the arrow around but I couldn't enter anything. After turning my laptop on and off a few times I was finally able to reach the password screen and enter my password, but it took forever for the start menu to come up. And nothing happened when I tried to click on the desktop icon. So what did I do? I kept turning my laptop off and on until I made some progress. At first none of the icons appeared on the desktop. After a while I was finally able to reach the desktop with all the icons viewable. I ran avg virus scan, but nothing turned up. The next day I tried to troubleshoot in safe mode. It took 2-3 hours for me to reboot in safe mode and I was only able to do it by accident. I ran CCleaner in safe mode and cleaned the registry. Since then I've been able to reach start screen and desktop without any issues, but now I don't have any wifi access and none of my usb ports are working. I used my phone and another laptop to download and burn malwarebytes to a cd. After installing and running it 0 threats were identified.
