Solved Connected to Internet, but IE and chrome won't connect

Win8.1 HP desktop with both Ethernet and WiFi. Neither connect to websites, and I get errors when I tried to fetch email, but when I ping URLs in command prompt, I get 4 good returns. The network icon in the system tray shows the network name and "Internet Access."

I have reset IE11 to default settings, but this doesn't resolve the problem. Also disabled and re-enabled adapter.

Was on the phone with Verizon, and they tried lots of stuff. They said my router is good. Another laptop on the same router using Wifi is able to connect to websites using both IE and Chrome.

Both TCP/IP 4 and 6 are set to DHCP.

Short of doing a restore to out-of-the-box config, is there anything else I can try? Are there any freebie utils to detect and fix internet connectivity problems?

TIA
Ken

I reset the adapter in Network & Sharing Center/Change Adapter Settings. Right click on Ethernet and wifi adapters, disabled and then re-enabled.

Tried using the NETSH commands, and did all of the ones specified in Geeks in Phoenix, but got an error for "netsh branchcache reset" saying that it was an unknown command. The rest of the commands works, and some specified reboot.

After reboot, I was able to access websites.

THANKS. I APPRECIATE, AS ALWAYS, THE KNOWLEDGABLE AND FAST SUPPORT I GET ON THE 7 AND 8 FORUMS.

Your welcome, glad it helped, usually just use from CMD command netsh winsock r
Reboot is what have to do afterwards. Found out Chrome uses proxies from IE so IE did not work Chrome won't probably so on for other browsers.
Amazing Verizon could not get you through this.
