Wired connection problem on a new laptop (Windows 8.1)

First of all, I appreciate your time and please bear with me.
I just bought a new laptop with Windows 8.1 and have an issue with wired connection.
I don't have a router so I couldn't test the wireless connection but the public WiFi seems to be working ok with the device.
After some search, I noticed that there were threads with similar issues but I still couldn't resolve the problem.

So currently, when I connect the Ethernet to my old laptop (Windows 7), it works fine.
However, when I plug it on the new laptop, it shows : "Unidentified network", "Limited" and cannot connect to the internet.

I updated the Windows after I got the laptop and rebooted the laptop and the internet connection.
I also did attached ipconfig texts/img files on both the older laptop (while plugged) and the new laptop (while plugged)
as well as the current network settings on both devices.

Please let me know, what else I should try.

    Old laptop model: Lenovo V570

    Try this:

Right click on Network (not sure how you get there if you are not using a Start Menu like Classic Shell) and select Properties.
Click on Ethernet along side Connections.
Click on Diagnose in the Ethernet Status window.

I would guess, that Virtual PC Network Filter driver is to blame, try to uncheck it.

Anyway, disable IPv6 (uncheck), it causes more problem, than it is worth.
You could also uninstall protocols, you do not use, like File and Printer sharing.
You could also setup a custom DNS, it increases stability and security among others.

    OpenDNS or GoogleDNS or NortonDNS.

After the diagnosis, I received message: "Ethernet" doesn't have a valid IP configuration.

    I followed this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nLaA42SsrUA
where I changed properties of IPv4 to the following IP address
    IP address: 192.168.1.101
    Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
    Default gateway: 192.168.1.1

    Preferred DNS server:192.168.1.1
    Alternate DNS server: 218.248.240.23
    checked "Validate settings upon exit"

Then I received Windows Network Diagnostics:
    Investigate broadband modem issues
    1. Turn off the device.
    2. Wait for at least 10 seconds.
    3. Turn the device on.
After following the instruction I received,

    Troubleshooting has completed
Trobuleshooting was unable to automatically fix all of the issues found. Details:
    Problems found
The default gateway is not available. Not fixed.

So I am still in the same page.

I should add that the second attached picture is the new laptop setting which doesn't Virtual PC Network Filter driver.
I did unchecked the IPv6 which didn't work for me after trying it again. I will see if I can install the custom DNS.

First DNS servers are wrong. Try 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 or set to automatic.

Also try leaving default gateway blank. And set IP address to automatic.

I tried with following setting as you mentioned and checked "validate settings upon exit" but got the same message: "Ethernet" doesn't have a valid IP configuration.

I should add that the second image on the original post is the new laptop setting which doesn't have Virtual PC Network Filter driver.
I disabled the IPv6 and rebooted but didn't work for me. I will see if I can add the custom DNS.
