When I open the resource monitor, under both TCP connections and network connections, there are many many ip addresses. I have 2 VM's so I assume those could be 2. But there are many. Some are from chrome exe and some svhost. Why are there so many ip addresses and what do they all mean?

It means that your computer has sent and received requests to various points, with hops at various locations.

Thanks. Is this normal? What type of requests are you referring to?

At any given time. I can have 10-12 active devices on my network. That equates to probably a million IP requests in around 15 days.

Majority of the requests are Pings from the Gateway to check to see if devices are online, or the Gateway asking the modem if the ISP is still available to send requests through, time ping, Heartbeat from the ISP.

Depending on how many add-ons you have on your Web Browser, or what website you visit. It can even increase requests more than just a machine sitting idle with all apps closed, and just the computer siting there waiting for a login.

Hey, thanks! Makes more sense now.
