Limited InternetConnectivity,online windows tools affected

Whenever I connect to my wireless internet, it would say the connection is limited. I didn't care about this before because I can actually access the internet normally even if it says limited connectivity. But I found out that this limited connectivity is preventing me to use online windows tools. Whenever I tried to troubleshoot my computer and check for solutions online (in action center) it would say "connect to the internet" even if I'm actually connected to the internet. And I think my windows update is not working because of this. Any suggestions on what I should do? I would really really appreciate if someone can help me fix this.

What wireless adapter do you have in the laptop? Do you have the latest drivers installed?

It's Qualcomm Atheros AR956x Wireless Network Adapter. When I update the driver software, it tells me that the driver is up to date. This driver was pre-installed already when I bought this laptop. I read somewhere that changing the driver to another compatible driver would fix the problem, but I'm scared to do it without some experts' (like u guys) instructions cause it warned me that if i push through, my computer might stop working completely since Windows can't verify if it is compatible with my hardware.

Regardless about the driver up to date, which is not needed to know at this point. Who is your ISP, are you leasing a gateway from them, or do you own the gateway? Are only getting this at home or when you connect to public hotspots? What third part Internet Security software are you using on your computer?

As for updating the driver's, Windows installs the best driver through Microsoft Updates. Unless you are having issues with that driver, then you would install the manufacture of the computer driver for the wireless adapter. This is Basic Computer 101 stuff.

I dont own the gateway, just leasing from them. I tried to connect this computer to my phone's hotspot, it shows "Connected" not "Limited" but still has that yellow warning sign over the internet icon down in the toolbar (same sign I get when I connect to my home's wifi.) I again tried to connect my phone's internet to this computer but this time wired, and it says "Local Area Connection: limited." I have McAfee & Malwarebytes installed btw. As for "Windows installs the best driver through Microsoft Updates," what if Windows update is not working (which is currently my issue. Updates were never installed in my computer ever since I bought this) oh and i'm not that much of a tech savvy so pls bear with me and guide me if i misunderstood anything

I bet if you get rid of McAfee, the issue will go away.

I just noticed now that I got McAfee WebAdvisor, not the anitvirus one. But still, I removed it just to see what would be the result. It didn't fix the problem, the connection's still limited. I tried to check a different laptop (connected to our home's wifi) to see if the same issue is happening, but it's not. The other laptop's connection is perfectly fine, not limited or whatever.

Still possibly a Gateway issue. Still need to know your ISP, the manufacturer and model of the gateway you are using.

Anyway, if ever it is a gateway issue, how come I also encounter the same issue before when I was still using a different gateway (Linksys) but the same ISP?
