Windows 8.1 wont save more than one network profile. Once i connect to a WiFi network i can disconnect, restart my computer and it will always automatically connect to that network fine and it shows up in "netsh wlan show profiles" fine. All very normal stuff. However, As soon as i connect to another network the first profile is deleted and replaced with the new one. When i "netsh wlan show profiles" now it only shows the new one and again it will automatically connect to the new network. If i switch back to the first connection, the second one is deleted and i'm back where i started. Its very annoying having to manually connect to networks i use all the time.

That should not be happening. Something is screwed up. Are you using a third party utility to handle Wireless Zero connections, or just the standard Windows Wireless-Z.

It still should not be deleting a previous profile, if you have Wireless Zero set up to Connect to the SSID, when in range. If you have the SSID hidden. It can be an issue.

The thing is so long as i am using the same wifi then it works fine, i can restart my computer and it will automatically connect like it should, so its capable of seeing my ssid fine, the issue only occurs when i connect to a different one then the old one is wiped and replaced with the new one. I can then restart and it will automatically connect to the new one fine again, only when i try to go back to the first one, it has forgot it and i have to manually reconnect with password. The laptop is only a couple of months old and its being doing this since day one, its just become such an annoyance now and i cant find anyone else anywhere that has come into a similar problem.

Another thing is that i have tried this on about 10 different connections and its always the same thing, so long as i don't connect to another one it will always remember the one profile perfectly.

I was noticing the same behavior on my new laptop, and what I just discovered was that my machine was running a tool called "Intel PROset/Wireless WiFi Connection Utility" and that this tool was managing my WiFi profiles. Right-clicking on the system tray icon, I was able to see the other saved profiles that I had been trying to use, and to switch between them without entering the network key again. The tool also had an option to "Let Windows manage profiles..." or something to that extent, and when I elected to do that, then Windows started behaving as I had expected, showing multiple profiles in the "Manage known networks" page and not requiring me to enter the key when switching.

Excellent. I also have this tool runing and i can see that it has been managing my profiles so i have removed it and everything seems to be working the way it should. Thanks for your solution bcogs.
