Nothing worked. I tried your suggestion broe23 but it did not work. I updated the ATK, Chipset and wifi driver but it did not work. I installed ubuntu but it did not work(installed linux driver for my network adapter as well). I installed another version of Windows but still it did not work. Maybe this is a hardware problem right? It's very frustrating as I have to start and then restart windows just so that I can connect to wifi. Maybe in the future I'll just learn to live with this problem. Thanks for the help though.

It may be. Or could be disabled in the bios or Fn key. That card retails for around $30.

Yea, really starting to wonder if the card is simply a lemon. I got mine for a bit less than $30 on a well known auction site.
Hopefully it is not something in the power circuit going to the card causing it to drop out.

I got both of mine at CDW. I still have the Realtek cards. As for the OP. Go out and get the Netgear a6200 or 6210. Both come with a USB extension cable.

My son uses his where his Mac Book gets limited range on his campus.
