Hi, thanks for letting me join the forum.
My problem started last Tuesday afternoon when I tried to connect on my Windows 8.1 PC and the above message appeared. Windows Network Diagnostics reported that (1) "Ethernet " doesn't have a valid IP configuration, and (2) The default gateway is not available. My PC has a wired (Ethernet) connection and my router is a TalkTalk D-Link DSL -3680 Broadband Wireless N150 ADSL 2+. The router appears to be working all right, all lights are green except WPS which is not lit. Lan 1 and Lan 2 flash on and off quite rapidly. I have checked the wiring, everything seems to be working.
Unfortunately I cannot plug straight into the master socket as it is on a different floor, but I have had very little trouble with it over several years.
I have taken some photos of the test results which I could attach if it would help.
I should add that internet on both my tablet and mobile phone are fine, hence my being able to send this.
I'm hoping that someone will be able to help.

To collect IP configuration information easily, do the following:

Open a Elevated Command Prompt:

XP, Vista or Windows 7:

Click on the Start button and type cmd.
DO NOT press Enter or click Go.
Look at the upper part of the window and you will see cmd.exe.
Right click on it and select Run as Administrator.

Windows 8 or 8.1:

Press WIN + X to open Start context menu.
Select Command Prompt (Admin).

Paste the following into the Command Prompt window, exactly as shown, including double quotes:

cmd /c "ipconfig /all > postme.txt & ping yahoo.com >> postme.txt & reg query "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings" >> postme.txt & notepad postme.txt & del postme.txt"

and press ENTER.

A file will open in Notepad. Please copy and paste the contents here. Close the Notepad window and the file will be deleted and the Command Prompt window will also close.

IP configuration information

Many thanks for your quick reply, DMHOLT57, I managed to find the information last evening and saved it s a .txt file, but couldn't work out how to transfer it to my tablet neither by Dropbox, Cloud, using drag and drop, or "Send to". Then this morning the penny dropped that I could use my tablet and the image is now on my tablet but I can't work out how to attach it on here. I tapped on "Manage attachments", camera, the photos appear, I select the appropriate one but cannot find the button to attach it to my message.
Sorry to be such a nuisance, I have a couple of books relating to Android tablets as well as the manual, but cannot find the relevant instructions.
