How do I remove old network shares?

My wife runs Win 8 on her Surface Pro 3 and is networked to our desktop. Until recently I had a particular folder on the desktop shared out, but have now removed that folder. However, in the network locations in Windows Explorer on Win 8, the folder is still displayed and I can't see an obvious way of removing it. Any help appreciated,

P.

Devices such as Router, your PC etc... they all have DNS Cache and the shared follder will show up until the DNS cache is refreshed. To force refreshing DNS Cache. On the PC, Tablet ... Open Admin command prompt and type: ipconfig /flushdns and also, power cycle the router to clear DNS cache.
