Can't see 5GHZ wifi on laptop with windows 8.1

I have dual band modem that work with a Linksys AE6000 USB network adapter. I get the 2.4 ghz but can not see the 5ghz. It works fine on my desktop with window 7. I also have another berklin that will only work on the desktop as well. Neither will see the 5 ghz on my Toshiba laptop Satellite C-55-B5296. I had it previous working when I used the berklin install setup disc. I recently had to reset my computer, and now it won't work even after reinstalling both the Linksys and berklin setup disc. I have updated driver. Talked with Comcast, Linksys, and Toshiba. All want me to purchase a plan before they can help. Hope someone can help

    Hi there,

In addition.... can you try forcing your Wi-Fi adapter(s) to a 5 GHz band? You should have a utility to do this or from your Device Manager. You may also experiment and do this from your router setting.

2xg, there is no forcing them to 5ghz, when they are not capable of it.

@broe23 - It worked before. I am suggesting to try fiddling with the settings. Both modem/router and Wi-Fi devices are dual band capable and it should work.

Is there any off peak hours or perhaps inform others that you're doing some experiment and you'll change the setting back when you're done?

Also, make sure that the computer has the latest Windows Updates. I'd also try searching for the most recent wireless drivers from Linksys and Belkin.

    Hello,
Please type following into command prompt on the PC that does not see 5GHz network:
    netsh wlan show drivers

    Then paste the output here.
