    double ethernet = faster speed

I saw a video where a person doubled up the Ethernet cable from the gateway to the pc and taped both ends to hold them together but leaving the pins exposed. The exposed part surprised me as I though they should be taped too. The cables ran parallel to each other. He said the ones you get at stores just put double cables inside. He showed a speed test before and after and the results were very impressive. Before I go on a fool's errand, is there any truth to this ?

So a cable connected to nothing on either end? How could it possibly do anything?

The only way I know to increase internet speed is to have more than one WAN and a Router that supports more than 1 Wide Area Networks as in One WAN AT&T DSL and 2nd WAN Cable or Cellular. Router that will do this are way above $500+ and your paying for 2 Internet services

I think I know what video the OP is talking about. There are some other joke videos out there, along this line. They are actually using a built in wifi card.

Even with Dual WAN for Load Balancing, there would not be any increase in speed, except for if one connection has a higher upload rate. That would be the only thing you would really notice.

As for the router Clintigm, the Cisco RV320 does Dual/Wan and Cell Data fall over. It runs for around $180 on newegg.com.

If ATT was to open my speed to the max rate. I could actually have 60 mb/s down, 18 mb/s up. That is with a Single Pair on the Arris NV589 Gateway.

    Is this the video?

This is what the author said about the video:

"How to get a faster internet connection from your internet service provider using troll science! This trick has a zero percent chance of improving your internet and download speeds. Please stop asking me why you can't get faster speeds because you need to just buy it. Send this to your tech-savvy friends for a laugh! Your internet speed can't actually be increased, you'll have to upgrade your plan."

    He has other similar videos,

Hmm its been awhile but I remember my PeLink would split and download/upload between the WANs as long as nothing else was accessing the internet. Similar to (ISDN I think it was ) with 2 phone lines back in the day I remember that was really fast 256 or so you could actually download Program file in a couple of hours. I'm probably remembering wrong that was a while back. Yes My Charter Internet is 50 down and I'm only paying for 3 up.
Either way I don't think the OP method is going to do any thing for him

I am sorry for taking the time of those who legitimately help people. I guess I will never stop blushing over this. I am especial sorry because I come here often for help because the members are very courteous and informative.
That is the video and it is a cruel one.

So I just installed Windows 8 on my gaming rig. I gotta say, after being skeptical of this whole OS for a while, installing it fresh and trying it out shows just how useful (and FAST) it can be. The only thing about W8 that isn't fast is my ethernet adapter. When connected, downloads are slow,...
