Network access in WinPE on laptop with no ethernet port

    Well, I just ordered a new laptop - the Dell Inspiron 15 7000 (7548) ... i7 5500u , 8gb ddr3, intel ac 7260 dual band.

I use an Acronis WinPE USB drive to deploy/create images on my computer, and normally I have an ethernet cable connected which allows me to save/get the images on my 1TB drive in my desktop PC.

This laptop doesn't come with an ethernet cable.

    My questions are the following

    1) Can I use a USB 3.0 -> Gigabit ethernet adaptor (specifically this one Buy the StarTech USB to Gigabit Ethernet Network Adapter at TigerDirect.ca) and it will work plug and play just like a regular ethernet plug? Or will it require some sort of driver that I can't use in WinPE.

    2) Is there a way to just get the on board wifi card to work on WinPE?

    3) Can I use a USB WiFi adaptor instead if the former 2 options don't work?

    Thanks for the help

The WinPE is the one based off of Windows 8.1 so the latest version

    1. It should work.
    2. Only if you can get drivers for it installed, usually come from the maker/vendor of the board.
    3. Probably. I've used several from such brands as D-Link, Linksys [now Cisco] and AirLink101.

Thanks. With regards to 2 and 3, if I managed to get it to work in WinPE then how would i bring up the GUI to connect to a Wi-Fi network?

I've not work with WinPE but if the drivers install there should be an icon on the Taskbar or Desktop to click which will should show Wi-Fi modems within range.

Where does it get the drivers for my specific wireless card from? Or is it just autodetect?
