    Windows 8.1 Pro - Limited Connectivity -

    Hello.

    All of the sudden my PC connection became limited . It simply disconnected without any reason even though I have been using that set up for nearly a year now. Meanwhile every wireless and wired computer not situated in my room has no problems.

    The connection was as follows : Modem > Power-line Adapter > Hub ( One Ethernet cable my Xbox) & One plugged into my PC. At first I assumed it was a hardware issue so I moved my PC downstairs and it connected instantly, SoI figured it might be my hub/or power-adapter so I removed the hub and used a brand new Power-line adapter & a brand new Ethernet cable without any success and returned the computer back to my room upstairs and instantly it became limited again.

    * I am using a talk-talk router.

    I have uninstalled the network drivers & re-installed them without any luck.

    I have attempted to to use cmd prompt however, when dealing with ipconfig/renew & netsh commands to reset the tcp/ip stack however this has been denied and can't find away around it.

    I hopelessly even tried to refresh the computer due to the fact its been 3 days without any internet on it.

    My head is honestly spinning so I'm open to ideas, I would rather not need to re-install my OS as its generally a pain in the.. Just the downloading frightens me

    But, if push-comes-to-shove I guess I'll have no choice.

    Hopefully, I have explained the problem clearly & thanks in advance.

    If you are not using a Gateway which is Modem, 4 port switch, Wifi, router. Then yes you will always get the limited connection.

    Why you decided it was drivers when it was not, is not how you fix these things. As for three days, this is a 5 minute fix by setting your network up with the correct equipment to start.

    Sometimes the Power adapters for Ethernet over powerline do fail if the house wiring is not up to par, or you live in a apartment building.

    I am using a talk-talk router, with a power-line adapter to save using a 25m cable to hook up the PC in which has worked without a hiccup for over 6months then it suddenly stopped working.

    About the wiring if that's the case I may have to settle for a wireless Nic.

    The reason it took 3 days was simply because I was looking through different solutions that people had already posted.

    Just get a Wifi Access Point. Only stuff wired in my house are things like streaming capable devices. Other than that, it is exclusive WiFi connection.

    I have two Access Points in my house. One for Wireless-b/g devices, the other is only for Wireless-n devices. My wife & I spend the majority of the time in our Living Room, so that is where I placed the Wireless-n A/P.

    For a list of the equipment I have on my network and pictures, click on "My System Specs" in any of my posts.
