From what I can tell If you have setup your logon to use your Live account, the system will cache the credentials, does not matter if your computer is 25%, 50% or 100% connected to the internet you can log on. It could also be that when you turn on your machine/or reboot the one of the first service that gets run is the internet service hence before you see your desktop you are already connected.

My Internet is not connected automatically...its a broadband which uses a username and a password...and in my case the password is not cached!!!

Please note that I have just installed Windows 8 and it was the first restart!

You said you signed in with your Live account and associated with your OS? If that is the case, the OS has it cached.

I have this setup and this is what i think happens.

Reinstall it but have the wireless internet (or if you are using cable) ready so that during setup you can put in your Live account and password which should associate with your actual Live account on the net.

Then there is your problem. You associate your Live password after you logged onto your internet. W8 will assume your Live password to be your internet access password.

My setup is my wireless internet is signed in automatically (no password required) so then the only association is the Live password.

I'd have to doubt that Microsoft would make this very huge security mistake, so I'd say that it isn't true.

What security mistake, what are you talking about?

His internet access is password protected, W8 doesn't recognise the access password because he associated his logon with Live AFTER he logs into his password protected network. So when he reboots, he puts in his LIVE password which would have worked if he was already accessing the internet (which he isn't).

That isn't actually the case!

W8 tells me that my pc is not connected to the internet and hence it cannot verify the password. It also tells me to use the last used password [maybe Local Account] to sign in!

That's exactly the case!

Read what you are typing "W8 tells me that my pc is not connected to the internet". To sign into Live you need internet! W8 connects to the internet during startup, so if it fails due to your network password requirement, you cannot log in because you have associated your Live password.

Don't know why i have to retype all this.

What i meant there was W8 will assume you have connected to the internet access and that it uses your LIVE pasword to authenticate.

Have you tried installing W8 WITH internet access READY (no need to put in password to to access the internet)?
