    Network Issue I've never encountered

Today i was calibrating my 2 new monitors and playing with they're settings when all of a sudden i was dropped from my 5g wifi connection. Under networking connections it kept failing to connect to "NetworkProfile". Once i told it to forget "NetworkProfile" the normal name of my 5g connection would reappear. If i then tried to connect again, it would fail and the name would change back to "networkprofile" where it would begin the endless cycle. Meanwhile my regular 2.4 connection worked fine. I have no idea what was going on. I have used windows computers for a long time and i have never seen "networkprofile" under my list of Wireless networks. And conveniently Microsoft's offical support forums have a "temporary problem". Has anyone ever seen this before?

    Welcome to the forum!

    Have you tried this?

Click Start > All Programs > Accessories, right-click on Command Prompt and choose Run as administrator. Windows 8 users press [Windows Key] + [X] and select Command Prompt (Admin).
At the command prompt type: netsh winsock reset catalog and press [Enter].
Next type: netsh int ip reset reset.log and press [Enter].
Restart your PC for the changes to take effect.

Have you power cycled the devices providing the connection (eg router, modem, etc.)?

Ok, so i tried what Popeye suggested going through cmd and didn't have any luck. I've also reset my modem and router countless times along with my PC. Just now i went through my Asus router and went through the Network Setup Wizard again and i have things working for now. I left all the settings i had before as far as i can tell. What troubles me though is my connection still says im connected to "networkprofile" and not the name of the actual 5g network i have setup. My 2.4 network has the same name just no 5g at the end and its showing up as it is supposed to. I'll go ahead and post my information.

Need the information from netsh wlan show all. Hard to make out what is really showing in that screenshot from Xirrus. Did not need the speed test.

If something is knocking your 5ghz connection out, it could be anything. How close are you to the local airport, also do you have any Ham operators around you?

Changing your settings on your monitor, should not knock out your 5ghz connection, unless you are using a wireless HDMI setup and could be possible that is causing the issue.

It does also help to know what router you are using, how far away from it you are using your laptop.

Did you set the SSID to be hidden on the router/gateway? Without that, there is no way to tell which A/P in that list is yours. If you are using Wireless-n for 2.4/5ghz, you need two channels each and also HT radio mode needs to be set at 40mhz.

For the 2.4 ghz is setup to 20/40 and just 40 for the 5ghz. The SSID is not hidden for either..Would it help if it was? TheGreatIntelligence_5g was the one giving me issues. The 2.4ghz is the same name with no _5 at the end. Maybe i should just read and effing manual before i start taking up space on forums...

You need 2.4ghz also set for 40 if you are using Wireless-N only. Channel Interference can cause the connection to drop. Same if you are too far away from the router/gateway.
