    Multiple Homegroups?

Using Windows 8 Consumer Preview I cannot seem to join my existing home group. Is this permitted on this preview version, or do I need to take a special approach? I tried leaving the Homegroup on the Windows 8 computer and then my only choice was to create a new one, after which I tried putting in the password for my existing Homegroup, but it did not join!

Homegroups is working fine for me. Assuming you didn't disable any services or disable IPv6 and that the time/date settings are correct, I'm not sure why your machine won't join the existing Homegroup. The Homegroup check list might help you spot any other problems. Ultimate Troubleshooting Guide for Windows 7 HomeGroup Connection Issues

The only problem I notice with Homegroups is when the original machine that created the Homegroup isn't there anymore it seems to cause problems, in which case creating a new Homegroup and rejoining from all machines fixes most every problem.

It's best to turn on all machines in the Homegroup first then leave the Homegroup from all machines then create a new Homegroup with the Windows 8 machine then rejoin all the machines to the new Homegroup. This is to flush out the credentials from the old Homegroup.
