    New Desktop Wifi Connection

Hi there, I've got a stable wifi network at home, several laptops, tablets, printers and a few other devices run off it absolutely fine. My new pc was built and I took it home yesterday and I cannot get the wifi to run properly.

The signal is fine (hops between 3-5bars) and my laptop next to it is connected at full 72mbps speed as seen here

The ethernet connection works 100% fine on the desktop, so I know the connection with that is good.
The wifi however, if it decides it wants to connect, it is either limited, or when not limited it shows this

I have tried the release/reset commands, and a few other options (reinstalling drivers, auto troubleshoot), but it doesn't seem to push the speed up to anything useable - at that 1mbps I can't even load a simple webpage.

Any help would be fantastic, thanks in advance

Is that RTL8192CE wireless on the motherboard? If so I question these solutions as I don't think they have any kind of external antenna.

I have a netis wireless pci/pci-e adapter, with the external anetnnas. I've installed the driver for that, but it doesn't seem to show up in device manager

E: I am also back down to limited connection again, I can't seem to see a pattern here for when it goes normal to limited or just won't connect, even with it being 3-5bars of signal

I would check to see you have the latest drivers, if latest, try uninstall/re-install the driver. If that fails, it may be possible that you got a defective wifi adapter, look into returning it for an exchange.

May need to disable the Realtek wifi adapter to get the other PCI adapter to work.

I'll try the drivers one more time, annoying if it is just faulty, but at least its fixable.

Thanks for the help guys, will give them a call tomorrow

I just disabled the realtek RTL8192CE - should the netis adapter show up in device manager? if so where, because I can't see it

Edit: Nevermind, the adapter with the antennas IS the realtek rtl8192ce, just looked it up. I guess its just time to wait and call in the morning

I'm a newbie (less than 30 days of wifi network experience), so take my words for what it's worth.

I received a router from the provider and set up a household network. Eventually, with exasperation, my equipment were able to access the network and the internet. When another household member tried with his equipment, for some reason, the network became 'limited'. Access to the internet became dodgy. The digital "Can you hear me now?" returned with a "No!"

It happened again an hour ago.

Both times, the solution was to 'reboot' the router: power off (unplug), ten seconds, power on. The 'limited' was removed.
