I have a windows 7 laptop and a windows 8.1 desktop.
I can see the shared folders on the Win 8.1 machine from the Win 7 machine. I can copy files from W 8.1 to W7. But if I try to open large files, such as video files, remotely, or if I try to copy files that are too large, the connection times out. If I try to view folders that contain a large number of files, the connection times out.
After that the Win 8.1 machine has no Internet connection - trying to browse to a web site times out. Running the connection troubleshooter on that 8.1 machine fixes the problem. I can again see the win 8.1 shared folders and files, but if I try to open or DL a large file or view a folder that contains a large number of files the problem repeats.
