How do I send shutdown and restart actions over home net?

OK, so I know it sounds simple, but this is the fun part...

I'm the administrator of my home network, with 2 desktops on LAN, along with 2 wi-fi desktops and a laptop.

ipconfig /all shows the laptop and one of the LAN desktops, but not the other residing on the network. The missing desktop has internet connectivity, but doesn't show up. I'm lost.

And I did all this research in hopes to send a remote shutdown prompt to the PC when not in use, and not in the same location...

So, as you can see, I have 2 problems in one...

You would need to enable WOL (Wake On Lan) in the Bios.

So this option just isn't available for PC's in the home that don't have WOL through BIOS?

    1. Make sure that you turn on network discovery on those PC's that don't show up in the network:
Control Panel->Network and Sharing Center->Change Advanced Sharing and select Turn on network discovery. In addition, turn on file and printer sharing
    2. Device Manager->Network Adapter and right click on it ->Properties->Power Management and put a check mark for all options.
    3. Most BIOS should have WOL feature. Turn on as suggested above.
    4. Download: WakeMeOnLan - Turn on computers on your network with Wake-on-LAN packet
    5. Create a cmd script as follows:
      - To shutdown: shutdown.exe /s /m \\coyote-pc /f /t 00
      - To wakeup: E:\Portable\wakemeonlan\WakeMeOnLan.exe /wakeup Coyote-pc
where: Coyote-pc is the name of my PC

NOTE: In LAN. It is better to assign a static IP LAN address for all PC's in the router so that DNS cache will always be the same.

    Hope this helps !!!

Still not sure about this... I don't think all of the computers involved have built-in Wake-On-LAN capabilities... (HP systems, mostly.)
I can look through their BIOS functions, but unless there is a function that can be enabled in Windows that affects the WOL through BIOS, the options don't look promising.

All computers are capable of this.
