I've been using Ethernet the past several days on my computer since my internet connection is very slow. Beyond this, my Wi-Fi is still connected and working. The other day, my Ethernet connection stopped working even though the network was still working fine (via Wi-Fi). Now my Ethernet port on my laptop constantly shows one dim orange light and one dim white light. When I plug in a cable there is no change. Is this a software issue? I can't even find anything on my computer that indicates the Ethernet connection is recognized.
Is there a driver for Ethernet? I always thought this was built into Windows.
Second, why would my computer be recognizing Ethernet one moment, and the next moment act like I don't even have an Ethernet port?
Could this be an issue of the network card going out? If so, why are the lights on the port there?
