So many WAN miniports (XXX) and can't be deleted

I found in my WIN 8.1, there are so many WAN miniports in my device manager. And i can't delete any of them, Is it normal? What are they?

Those are part of Windows to ensure functionality so you can't turn it off. However, you can probably get rid of those " #2" by going to registry:

Computer\HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentConrolSet

Just make a complete system image first as precautions and be careful not to edit the incorrect key or you will have to reimage your system.

I found the key in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4d36e972-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}. but "deviceinstaceID" don't contain a number in it, as well as "DriverDes" key.

The weird part is that , Those WAN miniports should be hidden by default, now they don't hide , I just want to figure out why.

Just a thought: Have you taken a look in Network & sharing center>change adapter settings>choose WAN adapter and look at the properties? Those various miniports are for various VPN and internet protocol versions. If you don't use Wide Area Network you can just disable it in adapter settings, no need to delete it.

These can be taken out by going to update software ,search manually and getting one not really for that item say yes to all and it will go away .
