Slow Speeds With Netgear R7000 Router

Hello, I upgraded my speeds to 150mbps. I get this speed if I am just using the ISP's modem. Through the R7000 router, my speed drops to about 35mbps. I am directly connected through the LAN port. When I did a powercycle my speeds were normal, but the next day it was back to 35mbps.

What setting in the R7000 is trottling my speeds?

There are so many settings in a router. Make sure the router address isn't the same as the modem. Could also be something with your computer NIC that is interacting with the router to slow it down. Maybe going to sleep then when wakes not as fast?

The modem is set as bridge mode.

Let's back the train up. First off, what is the mfg & model of the modem you have for your Internet? Have you tried doing a hard reset on the router, and check to see if it gives full speeds after that? Is the router up to date with the latest firmware.

The modem is a Hitron CGN3. I haven't tried a hard reset, but the router does have the latest firmware.

It appears that you are not alone on this issue with that modem. Will Rogers let you use say the Motorola SB6412 instead of the Hitron?

What makes you say that? Has there been cases of similar reports? I would have to ask cause they gave me this modem when I upgraded.

If you took the time to do a web search. You will find that there are a lot of people having issues with that Gateway. Just because they "gave" it to you. Does not always make it a good product.
