Printing to the Homegroup printer used to work.

When printing from WordPad, get a popup saying
WORDPAD NOT RESPONDING
PRINTING
xxx
ON THE
\\xxx\Samsung ML-2160 Series on USB001

When printing from MSIE, get no popup (and no output).

When printing from Firefox, get popup:
PRINTING (NOT RESPONDING)
TITLE: xxx
PROGRESS: PREPARING...

Any ideas on how to fix this?

What Firewall software are you running? Have you tried not using Homegroup, but regular Network sharing, to see if the printer will print from a request from another computer on the network.

Thanks. Both PCs are using Norton Internet Security's firewall, and no other firewalls. The PC trying to print can see photos on the other PC. Many months ago, when I initially tried printing from the PC which did not own the printer, printing did not work and there was no popup. I found that setting the NIS firewall Trust Level to SHARED made printing work. At some point after then, those popups started appearing.

To set up regular network sharing, do I need to remove the PCs from the homegroup? To set up regular network sharing, would I first connect the PC which owns the printer to a new group, and then connect the other PC?

Dump Norton and just use Windows Defender and Windows Firewall when roaming. You do not need the firewall when behind your Gateway/Router.
