    LAN connection limited acces

    Hello

I'm at my home and I'm connected with both WiFi and a LAN cable (running out of the wall, connected to a switch).
The WiFi connection runs fine, everything up and running. However my LAN connection often (not always, but most of the time) tells me 'limited access'.

When I run ipconfig, everything seems fine (same default gateway, dns, subnet mask, etc.), still I have no working connection. I have also noticed that sometimes the settings for the LAN adapter are completely different, for example the IPv4 address started with 169.254 or something instead of the usual 192.168. However the connection says 'limited access' in both situations.

I have disabled and re-enabled the adapter, which fixes the issue for a minute, then it goes back to that weird error.

A sidenote: My WiFi comes from an access point, which is also connected to the same switch witha cable behind the wall, which I find the odd part of all this.

I have included an ipconfig /all below ...
    Thanks for any help !

I have always found it easier to reserve IP addresses on the router itself. You should have two IP reserved for your unit. 1 for Wi-Fi and one for LAN. It has never occurred to me to try to run both Wi-Fi and LAN at the same time there may be some issues with that? Read the router manual to see how these IP are reserved.

If it is the ethernet that is always a limited connection. Could be bad cable, bad Ethernet port on the computer, bad port on the router or bad router/gateway. Last could be third party Firewall software.

    Unfortunately I don't have the router's manual as I didn't install it.
I'll try and switch the cable but how could I know the port on my computer is broke ?

How is that when you connect the computer to another router at say a friend's place, no restrictions in place, that you do not get a proper connection.

Limited connections can usually be solved as I stated before. Pull the power from the router, then plug back in the power and let it boot back up and sync with the ISP's network. Then your computer should pull an IP through the Ethernet connection.

Unless its a limited production router, the manual will be found with a quick goggle search
take it to any computer repair shop and they can test your LAN port in about 5 seconds

For the record, Windows will use one connection only, regardless of how many you have connected. So, if you have two connected to increase speed, you are wasting your time. Windows will chose the fastest or most reliable connection. The second connection will be completely ignored unless the first fails.

Second, an address that starts with 169.254 is an APIPA address. That means that your computer attempted to get an address from your router, but it didn't respond. The most likely cause? Your network cable is bad or disconnected.
